About INSS

The mission of the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) is to conduct research in support of the academic and leader development programs at NDU, to provide strategic support to the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Unified Combatant Commands, and to interact with other US governmental agencies and the broader national security community.

The military and civilian analysts and staff who comprise INSS and its subcomponents execute their mission by performing the following functions: research and analysis, publication, conferences, policy support, and outreach.
